In 1916 Gustav A. Ring Sr. founded the company Gustav A. Ring Systemmaskiner A/S. Following the Liberation of Norway in 1945, Ring Sr. and his son were released from captivity and Gustav A. Ring Jr. set his sights on the USA and the Edison Electric Company. He returned home with the knowledge and skills that provided the basis for remarkable developments in the field of internal communications, or ‘calling’ as the Rings termed it.

During the following years, they focused on product development and brought about an intercom revolution by means of acquisitions and their own patenting. Ring-Master became their trade mark.
