Exchange Recovery Procedure

  1. Active fencing mechanism
When an AMC-IP board becomes faulty, it is important that it is isolated from the system. The AlphaCom E26 will make sure that the board is virtually isolated until it is replaced. This means that the faulty board cannot interact with other IP nodes or access shared resources such as ASLT cards.
  2. Restore AlphaCom application
The standby AMC-IP board will become the new active main processor board, and the AlphaCom application will be restored. This takes approximately 90 seconds.
  3. Restore IP addresses
When the standby AMC-IP board is activated to take over from the faulty one, it will use exactly the same IP address as the previous board (which is now isolated from the system). If an exchange is part of an AlphaNet solution, it is crucial that it retains the same IP address - otherwise the other exchanges will not be able to detect it on the network anymore.
  4. Reconnect IP stations and VoIP AlphaNet links
All IP stations and VoIP AlphaNet links that were previously connected to the isolated AMC-IP board will be re-connected to the new active AMC-IP board. The IP stations and VoIP AlphaNet links will be re-connected within 90 seconds.
