The VINGTOR marine UHF radio system can be integrated with the VINGTOR ACM system. The integration provides support for including both ACM intercom units as well as UHF radio’s in the same group communication channel. Key benefits of the integration are:
- Use IP bridge console to coordinate all group communication: coordinate all group communication and PA from one terminal
- Ability to listen in to radio conference on the intercom units in the cabins
- Ability to have workgroups consisting of intercom + radios
The radio spectrum for onboard marine UHF radio has a world wide license in the spectrum 450-470 MHz. The marine UHF radio spectrum/band is accepted by all countries. The marine UHF radio spectrum provides 5 semi-duplex radio channels. A typical setup can consist of one or more UHF channels using base-stations or repeaters. Each base-station or repeater is connected by an ACM interface unit. Radio coverage on the vessel can be provided with a combination of outdoor antennas, indoor antennas, leaky feeder coax cable and splitters. Although 100% coverage never can be guaranteed due to steel rooms, floors and ceilings, it’s very good possible to provide reliable coverage to a large extent.
