Elevator communication has to comply with local and/or regional regulations such as the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). STENTOFON stations include those designed specifically for elevators such as the 1063 Elevator Kit and 1064 Elevator Substation.
The 1603 and 1604 units can be equipped with a call button that dials a preprogrammed number when pushed. This call can be sent to a single master or up to 20 master stations simultaneously. A red LED will flash when the button is pressed and emit a ringing tone until the call is answered by a master station, an essential feature for the hearing and sight impaired. An optional board can provide a message, “your call is registered please wait” that plays three times with a 10 second pause between each playing. When a call request from an elevator is received at the maser station(s), the LED on the faceplate of the master station(s) will flash and a ringing signal will be heard. When the call is answered, both station’s LED will light solid allowing for two-way audio communications. The station can also be equipped with an optional Braille plate.
