2021- ASL

ASL and Zenitel Joining forces

The next step to strengthen our market position came in 2021 as Zenitel joined forces with ASL (Application Solutions Limited). With more than 30 years of experience, ASL has a strong offering of Public Address, General Alarm and Voice Alarm Solutions (PAGA/PAVA)  as well as Control Management products. With ASL in the Zenitel group, it enables Zenitel to further strengthen its market position in intelligent critical communication solutions.

The combination of both product ranges is a key benefit to deliver higher added value solutions to our end customers. The solutions of ASL are strongly appreciated by end customers in transportation (rail, airports and tunnels), education, maritime, energy, building security, theme parks, stadia, nuclear power plants, industry and retail.
 

2018 - Phontech

Phontech becomes part of the Zenitel group

The in Norway developed products of Phontech are specialized in Intercom and Public Address & General Alarm solutions for the global Maritime and Energy markets.  In 2018 Phontech entered the Zenitel group. It resulted in strengthening the Zenitel position in multiple markets by combining Public Address and Intercom Technology. This strategic acquisition strengthened Zenitel’s position as a worldwide market leader for intelligent critical communication solutions in the Maritime and Energy industry. The Phontech team joined the Zenitel Horten offices.

2014 - Vingtor-Stentofon

Vingtor-Stentofon is a product brand owned by the Zenitel Group and is the result of merging the two product brands formerly known as Vingtor and Stentofon into one.

The merger of the two brands, was a strategic goal in keeping with Zenitel’s corporative objectives as all products are designed, developed and manufactured under the Zenitel Group.

Vingtor-Stentofon, has a long, rich history supplying products that are known for their robust features and an open architecture that allows for easy integration with other 3^rd party devices including access control, CCTV, alarm systems and IPBX. We strive to be a technology leader by providing high-end features and solutions such as active noise cancellation, supervision, audio analytics, and an open architecture structure for interoperability.

1999 - Zenitel

The next milestone came along in 1999, when the company decided to restructure its organisation and focus on core activities.

In May 2000, a decision was taken on a merger between Stento ASA and the reorganised SAIT-RadioHolland. In 2001, Zenitel celebrated its one hundredth anniversary, changed its corporate identity and name to Zenitel. Early 2009, in order to guarantee the profitability of the Zenitel Group, especially given the global financial and economic crisis, it was decided to focus all commercial efforts on the continuing development of Secure Communication Systems. On September 29. 2015 Zenitel celebrated it’s 50th anniversary as a registered company on the Euronext Exchange.

All through these years, one aspect hasn’t changed: since 1901, Zenitel has been providing the means for people in trouble to talk. Zenitel has no intention of changing its course; indeed, the business of security and communication is due to become one of the most relevant businesses in the near future. That is because it relates to the safety of people.

1997 - Stentofon

1997 brought a merger with another Norwegian company, Stentofon, likewise active in the internal communication systems sector.

Stentofon began life in 1946 as Stentor Radiofabrikk, specializing in radio communication systems for ships and for fishing boats. Stentor later extended its range with intercom systems that it sold under the brand name STENTOFON. Also in 1997, Stentofon AS merged with another Norwegian supplier of internal communication systems and provider of PMR-systems, RingCom AS, itself the result of a merger between Ring-Master and Noracom. Ring Marine AB in Gothenburg also joined the group. With Ericsson Marine and Teleste Marine being a part of Ring Marine AB, they became a part of the group as well. The Stentofon and RingCom amalgamation was called Stento ASA. 

In 1988, after eight years of fruitful cooperation with Vingmed AS to adapt the PAMEX and other on shore intercom systems for on board communication, Stento acquired the company VINGTOR Marine and became sole owner. Subsidiaries were later established in Croatia, Germany, Singapore and China. Vingtor took over Steenhans in 1998, which also included the company Steenhans bought in 1995, Phonico.

Meanwhile, Ring-Master and Noracom both had close business relations with Motorola, and Stento eventually became the main distributor for Motorola in all of the Nordic countries. Stento quickly expanded through a number of acquisitions, amongst which were the acquisition of Philips Intercom and Nursecall.
