Vacancies
UX Designer
Are you engaged by great user experiences?
Are you interested in products that connect people with technology?
Do you want to create products that help users perform at their best in demanding situations?
Then we'd love to have you on our design team!
About Zenitel
Zenitel is a Norwegian technology company with over 100 years of history. We develop communication products for professional users in exposed locations such as ships, schools, office buildings, trains and offshore installations. Our products are marketed under the Vingtor-Stentofon and Phontech brands and include complete solutions for voice communication, voice broadcasting and alarm. We employ approximately 370 people in offices in 18 countries and deliver products and solutions to international customers in all continents. Head office and corporate management are in Oslo and Horten.
About you
You are educated in design (product, interaction, or equivalent) at bachelor's or master's level and have solid expertise in user experience both physically and digitally. You are enthusiastic, curious and interested in the profession and have a well-developed aesthetic sense – especially in graphic design.
You put the end user first and can independently and together with others conduct user tests, design workshops, interviews and user surveys. You can take responsibility for gathering and understanding user needs and issues, and visualize and describe these to the rest of your team.
You are skilled at idea and concept development. From good, communicative sketches to digital and physical prototypes. You have a sharp eye for details, but don't lose track of the whole. You can deliver quick iterations to solve specific tasks, but also think long-term and see how products and services should evolve over time.
You are curious about new technology and interested in how good technical solutions can help create better products. And you dare to question established truths and practices.
You know that behind any quality product lies a thorough design process that takes into account all aspects of the end user and all the way back to the manufacturing company. And that "who will buy the product", "who should use it", "what problem it should solve" and "how it should be produced" are just some of the many questions in a process that together determines the quality of the design.
Experience in implementing graphical user interfaces (Qt, CSS, SixtyFPS, etc) is an advantage, but not a requirement. But you need to be interested and enthusiastic to learn!
You cooperate well with others, can work independently with demanding tasks, see what needs to be done, take responsibility for deliveries and can be creative also within established frameworks and routines.
About us
Our design team is divided between Zenitel's offices in Horten and Oslo (Torshov). The place of work for this position will be in Oslo. Today, the team consists of 12 employees divided into designers and engineers in mechanics and electronics. We are working on both further development of existing products and new development of completely new solutions.
We design all parts of our products – electronics, software, user interfaces and mechanics – and can therefore shape the entire user experience from start to finish. We believe this makes it extra exciting – and quite unique – to work with us.
In addition to standard digital design tools (Adobe, etc.), we use Creo for 3D modeling. We have our own prototype and test lab and produce most of our products in Europe.
What can we offer you?
• Interesting, varied and demanding tasks
• A good working environment in central premises
• Good pension and insurance schemes
• Exercise and health schemes
• Free phone and internet
• Company cabin at Norefjell
• Good colleagues with a lot of knowledge and experience
What influence will you have?
You will be responsible for specific deliveries in design and user experience.
You will be able to help shape Zenitel's strategy and methodology for design and user experience.
You will be able to participate and influence the choice of tools and methods for product development.
Your work will be an important part of the success of our future products and services, while at the same time you will get to work in a dynamic business characterized by innovation and collaboration. We want to deliver products that simplify people's everyday lives and that can ultimately help save lives. In this way create value for our customers and society as a whole.
To succeed in this position, you must be able to speak and write Norwegian and English fluently.
