CCTV over Flowire perfect for retrofit projects and smart installations

Vingtor-Stentofon  demonstrates the potential of Flowire technology for CCTV in retrofit projects and long cable hauls.

Last spring we met with IQinVision in Qatar and today they have their stand across from ours at Intersec Dubai. Since Vingtor-Stentofon  is an engineer driven company and our employees are big tech enthusiasts with an interest for security, this opened up for some interesting questions.

How to deliver CCTV in projects with special requirements? How should a CCTV setup be done in retrofit projects if you want to use existing two wire cabling? And what is the most cost efficient solution for installing CCTV at great distances or remote locations?

Remembering that IQinVision supply great IP CCTV equipment we went over to have a chat with Michael Kragh (Director Sales Europe). He was kind enough to borrow us an IQeye 3, so we could demonstrate the power of Vingtor-Stentofon  Flowire technology.

CCTV in retrofit projects with Flowire
We connected the IP security camera to the Flowire box. The camera is running perfectly smooth and according to Michael Kragh there is no noticeable difference in picture quality. So directly into the switch or via Vingtor-Stentofon  Flowire gives the same quality pictures.

The differences of course are that the surveillances camera now can benefit from the features the Flowire technology provides:

  • One single pair of cable can be used to distribute power and data
  • The cable hauls can be longer, up to 2 km, reducing the need for switches and/or repeaters
  • Up to 20 Flowire devices can be connected to the same 2-wire  star structure
  • Existing infrastructure can be used, even though only a single pair is available. This reduces the total cost of retrofit projects
  • The Flowire converter can be used with any Ethernet enabled device (not limited to Vingtor-Stentofon  products)

Thanks to Michael from IQinVision for borrowing us his IQeye 3 series camera.
