Zenitel has delivered equipment to the world's first biodiesel plug-in hybrid ferry
The Vingtor-Stentofon ACM system unites and enhances a vessel’s safety systems by providing outstanding on-board communication.
The ferry is owned by the ship owner, Torghatten.
"We want to be an environmentally friendly, forward leaning and innovative transportation company. We do this on our own initiative, without government requirements, and in close consultation with Nordland county," commented Stein Andre Herigstad-Olsen, Director in Torghatten in a public statement.
The biodiesel plug-in hybrid ferry will have 60 per cent lower Co2 emissions and a reduction in fuel consumption of 20 per cent, compared to an ordinary diesel ferry. In addition, the NOx emissions will be reduced by 85 per cent.
It's set to be finished in the end of May 2017. It will be a car and passenger ferry that can take up to 60 cars and six fully loaded trailers.
