With Flowire converter, we build solutions that provide both power and IP communication to run over the same two wire cables. That enables installing modern IP-based equipment with PoE powering and reusing of existing cabling.
Research Vessel Polarstern
Alfred Wegener Institute / Germany
The RV Polarstern, operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute, has completed nearly 300 important scientific expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic since 1982.
SMK-Elektrotechnik with its 50 years of experience in ship internal communication equipment was responsible for upgrading and installing the internal communications system onboard the RV Polarstern. The retrofit was completed at the Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven Germany and was supervised by a Zenitel service engineer for the installation of the new Exigo PAGA System which re-uses existing cabling through Zenitel’s Flowire technology.
FSRU BW Tatiana
El Salvador
In November 2021, BW Tatiana was officially named and dedicated, becoming the first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to be deployed in Central America’s smallest country. El Salvador currently relies heavily on imported fuel oil to generate power.
Zenitel recently completed a full retrofit on the internal communication systems onboard BW Tatiana. BW Tatiana has become a part of Energía del Pacífico’s Acajutla FSRU project.
