Zenitel UK Joins Big Blue's Ocean Protection Project
Zenitel and its partners have provided fast and reliable communication to ships of all shapes and sizes for many years for ocean protection project. Communication is crucial in protecting the lives and cargo of ocean faring vessels.
But protecting the oceans themselves are just as important. Enter Big Blue Ocean Cleanup and its Ocean Protection Project.
The Ocean Protection Project
In January, Zenitel UK, a Zenitel Solution Partner, joined companies from around the world in supporting Big Blue in its efforts to rid the oceans of harmful microplastics and other pollutants through its Ocean Protection Project.
“We’re always looking to promote positive attitudes towards environmental protection,” said Stephen King, the managing director of Zenitel UK and the driving force behind participation in the project. “There are only benefits in getting more involved with these sorts of projects.”
Big Blue is involved in projects ranging from hands-on coastal cleanups to data collection and research. Much of this research is dedicated to the study of microplastics.
“Microplastics are small particles ranging from 1μm to 5mm,” says Big Blue CEO Rory Sinclair. “Tons of those particles get into our natural waters and end up in our oceans. Up to now, it is not yet fully understood what physical and chemical impacts microplastic is having on any kind of living organisms.”
Zenitel UK joins more than 150 other companies in supporting Big Blue’s work. And King said it was an easy decision to make.
“Any chance we get to do something good is welcome,” he said. “Safety and security are among Zenitel’s most important values, and the protection of Earth’s resources is paramount to those values.
Zenitel UK does business with companies and organizations in many fields and industries. And reliable and well-cared-for infrastructure is important to them all. Just as roads require maintenance, so to do the world’s oceans require care. And King said Zenitel UK is proud to support Big Blue’s work to give them the care they need.
