WorkBoat names its 10 Significant Boats of 2021

For the last few years, WorkBoat's Boat of the Year was voted for by the readers of WorkBoat magazine and This year, the Boat of the Year will once again be chosen by the WorkBoat editorial team.

The announcement of this year’s Boat of the Year will be held on the first day of the International WorkBoat Show, during Happy Hour at 3:30pm on Wednesday the 1st of December. Unlike previous years, this year, the announcement and ceremony will be open to all attendees.

Zenitel communication onboard Boat of The Year 2019

Among the nominees, we find the Staten Island Ferry Michael H. Ollis, one of three new Staten Island ferries delivered by the Eastern Shipbuilding Group to the New York City Department of Transportation. On this ferry and her two sister ferries, Zenitel, together with Beier Integrated Systems and Mackay Communication, was responsible for installing all integrated communications such as PAGA and PABX, LAN and Networking, and a complete IP-CCTV system. This story was covered in full in our "Three new Staten Island ferries with Zenitel technology" article.

We wish all the nominees the best and cross our fingers that yet again a vessel with Zenitel equipment onboard will win the Boat of the Year award, just as Crowley's LNG powered ConRo vessels El Coquí and MV Taíno did in 2019.
