Vingtor-Stentofon onboard Norway’s first polar research Icebreaker

The Icebreaker vessel is named Kronprins Haakon and it’s a multi-purpose polar research vessel owned by the IMR – institute of Marine Research and built by Fincantieri in Italy.

When it was rolled out of it’s construction dock the weight, approximately 8000 tons, made it the heaviest ship lift ever in Italy. The weight needed to be distributed over four trolleys.

Zenitel Area Sales Manager in Norway, Rune Hansson comments: "We are very proud to be a part of a vessel as remarkable as this. Even though we equip all types of vessels, it is very rewarding to help continue the long tradition of valuable Norwegian research work in the Arctic."
