Göteborg Airport improves passenger experience with Zenitel
The Requirement
In collaboration with Bravida and SAC Nordic, the airport is replacing its outdated 137-zone system with an EN 54 certified PAVA system.
This new system will support emergency broadcasts, pre-recorded messages, background music, and live paging broadcasts from gates and information desks.
The new PAVA system for Göteborg Landvetter Airport needed to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure and maintain high Speech Transmission Index (STI) standards using current loudspeakers. To minimize disruption and costs, we employed IP connectivity to avoid extensive new cabling. We also required the system to have a lifespan of 10-15 years and be flexible enough to support the airport's future growth.
The Solution
The chosen technology for the PAVA system included 12 nodes, 16 cabinets, and 5 INTEGRA enclosures connected via a Secure Loop IP network. The system used VIPEDIA-12-NET audio routers and V2000.
We addressed space limitations with compact V2000 units and INTEGRA wall-mounted controllers. We deployed IP-enabled MPS and VIPA-WS microphones for centralized control. Dynamic Ambient Noise Sensors (DANS) improved Speech Transmission Index (STI) by adjusting audio output based on ambient noise, enhancing communication across zones.
The Result
Bravida Sweden and SAC Nordic successfully handed over a cutting-edge Zenitel PAVA system to Göteborg Landvetter Airport. The VIPEDIA-based system met all requirements and provided a reliable, expandable platform for future airport growth.
Despite existing speaker constraints, it achieved excellent sound quality and improved Speech Transmission Index (STI). The system, first expanded for the new South Terminal in 2021, is set to support the airport's evolving needs, ensuring enhanced and safe travel experiences for years to come.
Holmestrand train station is a station engineered into the mountainside of the Holmestrand municipality along a tunnel 12km in length. The client needed a PAVA system for train station. It had to deliver high STI levels in challenging, highly reverberant environments. The system also needed to offer proven reliability and performance without compromising full EN 54 compliance.
